June Consumer Price Index Climbs 0.2 Points

The U.S. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.2 percent in June to 208.352 (1982-84=100), 2.7 percent higher than June 2006, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor.
The 0.2 percent rise, on a seasonally adjusted basis, follows a 0.7 percent increase in May.
The index for energy, which had increased sharply in each of the preceding three months, declined 0.5 percent in June.
