India's Rough Diamond Imports are Growing

India’s imports of rough diamonds have grown 21 percent in value in the first four months of the fiscal year, totaling $3,536.66 million. The country imported 59,854,800 carats during the period, an average of $59.09 per carats.
In July, the country imported 19,631,800 carats of rough diamonds worth $1066.71 million, according to provisional data released by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council. The average value of the month’s imports was $54.34 p/c.
Rough diamond exports in July were 2,475,000 carats valued at $46.25 million, averaging $18.69 p/c. In the April-July period, the center exported 7,907,000 carats of rough tagged at $174.48 million, an average of $22.07 p/c.
