India’s Rough Diamond Imports $682.21 Million in August

India  imported 11.06 million carats of rough diamonds in August with a declared value of $682.21 million at an average value of $61.74 per carat. These imports represent a year-over-year growth of 66.71 percent by value and 115.80 percent by volume.

 

The average value of imports rose 29.52 percent from the $47.67 p/c average in August 2006.

 

Rough diamond exports declined 21.57 percent in quantity to 2.422 million carats. The value of exports, $47.72 million, increased 52 percent in value compared to 2006.
