GCAL Launches Online Diamond Trade Floor

Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL) has launched Certified Diamonds Exchange (CDE), an online diamond exchange where JBT-listed retailers (Jewelers Board of Trade), wholesalers and manufacturers can buy, sell and trade their inventory of GCAL-certified diamonds.

The aim of CDE, which is completely free to the user, is to provide an accessible online source of diamonds certified by GCAL. The lab, whose parent company is NASDAQ traded Collectors Universe, intends to market heavily through trade publications, online announcements and direct mail.

The lab also notes that sellers can submit diamond inventory to GCAL for certification and then have the diamonds marketed through CDE while only having to pay for the grading certificate.
