U.S. Cyber Monday Spend Jumps 15% to $846 Million
December 03, 08
A sigh of relief was released as online retailers saw good traffic and strong sales on Cyber Monday. The sales that contradicted the hurting economy mood were a 15 percent year-over-year increase on Monday and a 13 percent rise in the four-days from Black Friday through Cyber Monday.
According to a comScore report published Wednesday, e-tailers generated $846 million in online sales, thanks to strong, single day promotions. It seems that buyers were waiting for these specials, as November sales were $12.025 billion, a 2 percent year-over-year decline.
The Friday to Monday sales totaled an estimated $2.437 billion.
