Lights, Camera, and... Diamonds!

April 11, 11 by

Nothing says Academy Awards like diamonds – lots of diamonds. This year’s red carpet choices ran the gamut of styles from simple diamond drops to statement diamond cluster earrings and classic diamond studs. While diamonds adorned ears a plenty, statement cocktail rings and diamond line bracelets were also evident in all their sparkling beauty. And it wasn’t just on the red carpet itself that the celebs went all out. The after parties also saw their fair share of big baubles.

Gabriella Union

While Academy Award winner for Best Supporting Actress for The Fighter, Melissa Leo, may have let a certain “F-word” slip during her acceptance speech, her rose gold, 2.05 carat Jay Carlile for Forevermark diamond drop earrings paired with a 10 carat Forevermark diamond flower ring set in rose gold were a little more classy!

Although she may have lost out on a Best Supporting Actress award for Animal Kingdom, nominee Jacki Weaver was a winner in a delicate pair of William Goldberg for Forevermark Oprah diamond drop earrings paired with a 21 carat William Goldberg for Forevermark Aero bracelet and a Forevermark diamond double flower ring.

Mila Kunis, whose steamy scenes with Best Actress winner Natalie Portman in Black Swan showed she has come a long way since That 70s Show, looked every inch the modern star in a platinum and diamond cocktail ring, platinum and diamond line bracelet, platinum and diamond bangle and platinum and diamond earrings, all by Neil Lane and valued at $500,000.

The “big spender” of the night was Best Supporting Actress nominee for The Fighter, Amy Adams, who wore a staggering $1,350,000 worth of jewelry. She enhanced her L'Wren Scott gown with emerald and diamond pieces from Cartier. The jewelry smorgasbord included a platinum and diamond emerald haute joaillerie secret watch bracelet worth an unbelievable $1.025 million, which featured a 30.75 carat carved emerald and 575 diamonds totalling 15.38 carats. She also wore 2 carat platinum and diamond stud earrings, worth $35,000 and a platinum necklace with a 33.24 carat emerald and 15.38 carats of diamonds.

When it came to the after-parties, beautiful actress Gabrielle Union wore Katerina Maxine earrings to the Vanity Fair Oscar party hosted by Graydon Carter held at Sunset Tower in West Hollywood, while Hayden Panettiere wore Sutra jewelry (earrings and ring) to the 19th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, held in Los Angeles.

Natasha Henstridge and Hofit Golan also attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation party and both chose to wear Stars of Africa pieces from Royal Asscher to the event.
