Yair Sahar is the Next President of the Israel Diamond Exchange (Updated)

In what is likely one of the closest race for presidency, Sahar won 50.3% of the votes, narrowly beating current Vice President Yaakov Koren. Some 1851 IDE members voted in today's elections, a 72.2% turnout.
At the IDE's AGM Tuesday, Paz was voted Honorary President of the Exchange, with members responding to the decision with a standing obviation, a moving gesture.
In their speeches, Sahar and Koren spoke of their contribution to the industry, the IDE members, their own public and personal achievements, and laid out their plans for the future.
In his speech, Sahar told the members that he is already looking for ways to strengthen manufacturing sector. He also spoke of the need for bank financing, telling the AGM that he has already formed a forum to examine the issue together with some of the largest Israeli diamond traders and the Former Head of the Bank of Israel, Yaakov Frenkel.
