Jewelry Murder: Killer's Wife Jailed for Conspiracy
August 19, 26
(IDEX Online) - The wife of a man jailed in October 2025 for the murder of a US jeweler has herself been sentenced, for "planning and concealing" the crime.
Amanda Ileana Hernandez, 34, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, pleaded no contest in July 2026 and was sentenced last week at a Michigan court.
Her husband, Carlos Hernandez, is one of two men serving life sentences without parole for the October 2024 killing of Hussein "Sam" Murray, the 72-year-old owner of Gold & Glitter Jewelry in Hamtramck, Michigan.
Prosecutors said Carlos Hernandez and co-defendant Joshua Zuazo posed as utility workers to rob Murray's home. They produced bogus paperwork and claimed to be checking a gas leak
They beat Murray, aged 72, to death after he led them into the basement and assaulted his wife Linda Murray.
Amanda Hernandez was later charged based on alleged text messages, internet searches for utility worker ID badges and the Murray home address, and a discussion about using robbery proceeds to buy a house.
Hernandez was handed a sentence of between 57 months and 20 years on the home-invasion conspiracy count, 1 to 5 years on accessory after the fact, and 1 to 2 years on the impersonation charge.
The judge said Hernandez was not an innocent victim and that she had "zero problem" helping with the searches and other steps tied to the plot.
