PhotoScribe’s New Marking System Hopes to Rival Forevermark
January 31, 10
A new marking system capable of producing a transparent, invisible inscription on both the table and the girdle of a diamond has been introduced by PhotoScribe Technologies, Inc, the company announced Thursday.
PhotoScribe has hailed its new LMS-650SE system as an the first “affordable” diamond table marking system, which the company states can produce a mark similar to De Beers’ Forevermark at a fraction of the cost of De Beers’ Focus Ion Beam Marking System.
The new LMS-650SE system is an upgrade to PhotoScribe’s LMS-650, which it introduced in 2006. The new system can create both an invisible mark on the diamond’s table and crown facets in addition to high-contrast mark on the girdle.
The new invisible inscription can be seen under 10X magnification but is otherwise invisible to the naked eye.
“With our new system, diamond manufacturers can produce a mark similar to The Forevermark. Furthermore, they can do it in-house at an affordable cost, because the system is user friendly and does not require an engineer,” said PhotoScribe President and CEO David Benderly.
