Indian Polished Prices Stable with Less Than Expected China Demand

(IDEX Online News) – With the Hong Kong show not having generated the sort of red hot demand that dealers expected, polished diamond prices in Mumbai have remained relatively stable.

While domestic demand has, of late, been the key factor in driving trading activity, external demand, particularly from China and other emerging markets, has also been key in determining prices.

Though prices are still holding firm, trading is currently slow and an increase in activity is not expected until the middle of July, when preparations for the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) kick into high gear.

The IIJS will be central to determining how polished prices perform for the third quarter of this year.
