The IDEX Online Polished Price Report for July 5, 2012

(IDEX Online News) – The wholesale diamond market is becoming quieter as it sinks deeper into the summer. Prices of round goods are very stable, according to the IDEX Online Polished Diamond Price Report, which reflects changes in traders' asking prices. 

 

Among fancy cuts, better color and clarity goods 0.70-0.89 carats are in continued demand as are lower color high-clarity 1.25-1.49 carat items. Lower color VS2-SI1 1.25-1.49 carat goods are softening.

 

Following are some of the price changes:

 

Rounds

  • Prices of 0.18-0.22 cts G / IF up 2.56% to $2,000 p/c and I / SI2 jumped upwards 5.3% to $1,000 p/c
  • K / IF, 0.30-0.39 ct goods gained 2.9% and are now listed at $1,750 p/c, while L / SI2 goods leaped 5.3% to $1,000 p/c
  • 0.40-0.44 G / SI1 lost 2.6%, down to $1,900 p/c
  • 0.50-0.69, JKLM / VVS2-VS1 softened 2.9%, listing at $3,350 p/c
  • After last week's increase, 0.90-0.99 cts J / I1 items up another 4.4%. D / SI1 are down 3% to $9,800 p/c
  • 1.00-1.24 cts H / SI2 items are down 3.3% and K / SI3 lost 2.3% to $3,700
  • 4 cts HI / I1 goods up about 2.8%
  • 5 cts H / SI2 in growing demand, gaining another 3.1% to $19,900 p/c.

Fancy Cuts

  • 0.18-0.22 cts D / VVS1 continues to decline, down by another 2.9% to $1,700 p/c. F / IF lost 3.5%, resting at $1,400 p/c.
  • 0.30-0.39 cts H / VVS2 lost 3.2% of its list price, down this week to $1,500 p/c
  • After several weeks of declines, 0.45-0.49 cts have stabilized. The only change is G / VS1, down 2.6% to $1,850 p/c
  • 0.50-0.69 cts G / VVS2 +2.0% to $2,500 p/c
  • Another week of strong demand for top quality 0.70-0.79 cts. E / IF-VVS1 up 2.9% and 3.1%, I / SI1 up 2.1%
  • 0.80-0.89 cts D / VVS1 goods are still hot, up 3% to $7,000 p/c. G / VVS2 & SI2 are also in increasing demand, up 1.1% and 4% respectively
  • D / VVS2 0.90-0.99 cts goods +2.9% to $7,000 p/c, I / I1 up 4.2% to $2,500 p/c.
  • One carat I1 goods in D / SI2 keep rising, up 2.2% this week to $4,700 p/c.
  • J / VVS2 1.25-1.49 gaining 2.3% while J-K / VS2 declined 2.4% and 2.9%
  • 3 cts D / SI1 fell back by 3.2%, listing this week at $18,400 p/c
  • 4 cts E / IF keeps losing buyers interest, losing 3.1% to $60,300 p/c, an opportunity for buyers.
  • 5 cts H / IF-VS1 keeps still in lower demand, losing another 2.9% this week
