5.08 Ct Fancy Light Pink Gets $281K P/C at Auction

– A 5.08-carat fancy light pink VVS2 round-cut diamond sold for $1,426,500 at Sotheby's, more then double its pre-auction estimate. The Important Jewels sale in New York totaled $16.4 million.

 

The per carat price of the diamond came to $280,808. According to its GIA certificate, the diamond's polish and symmetry were graded only "good."

 

The second highest selling item was a 3.09 carats pear-shaped fancy intense orangey-pink, VS1 clarity diamond that sold for $770,500 or $249,353 per carat (p/c).
