July 27, 04
Canadian miner Diagem International Resource Corp said it has completed its second export of diamonds this year from its alluvial diamond project in the Juina Diamond and Kimberlite Province in Mato Gross State in Brazil.
The export of 3,990 carats of diamonds brings the total so far to 7,438 carats, with the stones now being cleaned and prepared for sale.
A detailed evaluation of the various parcels will be conducted after the diamonds have been cleaned, and will represent Diagem’s first sale of diamonds from its current projects this year and is expected to take place in Antwerp after the summer holidays.
Jacky Lewy, a principal of Natural Diamond Corporation, Diagem’s strategic marketing partner, said there was a higher than expected proportion of good quality diamonds which indicated the significant potential of the Juina Diamond Province, with a 25-carat diamond being particularly impressive.
