The International Colored Gemstone Association said its recently opened office in Beijing has recruited four new employees to give its operations a boost in what it regards as a vital market.
The office, opened in August, has started a comprehensive market research project, collecting consumer and product information on colored gemstone sales in China.
The results will be presented at the ICA Congress in Bangkok next February.
ICA President Joseph M. Menzie said that ICA’s new Chinese foothold is an important step forward for the organization. “With 300 million Chinese citizens already members of the middle class, with a proven love for luxury products, the Chinese market is more important than ever to our industry.”
The new office will play a major role in opening up the Chinese market to the ICA’s international membership, Menzie added.
