Auction Debut for Taylor Swift's Jewelry Designer
November 07, 25
(IDEX Online) - The jewelry designer who created Taylor Swift's engagement ring will make her auction debut at Sotheby's next week.
Kindred Lubeck was catapulted to fame in August when it was revealed she designed the $500,000-plus Old Mine cut diamond ring that NFL player Travis Kelce presented to Swift.
She is now selling three of her diamond rings on Sotheby's Gem Drop, a private closed-bid online auction platform, in which bidders see only their own bid, and are notified if it's been exceeded.
Lubeck worked with Los Angeles-based gemstone dealer Anup Jogani.
The priciest piece features an 8.66-carat round-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut VS2 fancy dark yellowish brown diamond, set in 18 karat yellow gold, with an estimate of $100,000 to $150,000.
There's also a 4.05-carat white diamond ring (H color, SI2 clarity) with an estimate of $50,000 to $70,000 and a 5.48-carat sapphire ring (estimate $60,000 to $80,000).
The auction lots are offered without reserve and with no buyer's premium.
Kindred Lubeck is a goldsmith, hand engraver, and vintage jewelry collector who founded the brand Artifex Fine Jewelry in 2019.
The Gem Drop: Kindred & Jogani is open for bidding from 10 to 13 November.
